John D. "Greek" Zimmerman, 69, of
Shermans Dale, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on Monday, January 26, 1942, in Carlisle,
a son of the late Margaret Zimmerman. John attended Boiling Springs High School and later on earned his G.E.D. He retired from Frog & Switch
Manufacturing Co., in Carlisle after 32 years of service, and where he was a member of Local Union 442. John was a life member
of the Union Fire Co., Carlisle and the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen Association and a former member of the Turnpike Ramblers Motorcycle
Club. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He
is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rebecca K. (Sheaffer) Zimmerman, one son, Michael D. (and his wife, Angela) Zimmerman
of Shippensburg, one daughter, Stephanie A. (and her husband, Steven) Sheriff of Carlisle, six grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. Memorial services will
be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2011, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev.
Robert L. Woodall officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of the services.
