
William J. Palmer, Jr., 88, of Carlisle, passed
away on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Saturday, April 7, 1923, in Nazareth,
PA, a son of the late William J. and Rheda (Drumheller) Palmer and was married to the late Grace (Kunkle) Palmer, who died
Sept. 8, 2009. Bill
was a 1941 graduate of Stroudsburg High School and served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during WWII. He retired after
25 years of service with the former International Boiler Works in East Stroudsburg. He was a member of St. John Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs and was a former member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks. He is survived by two sons; William J., III (and his wife, Kathleen) Palmer of
Ijamsville, MD and James T. (and his wife, Virginia) Palmer of Tampa, FL, one sister, Catherine Shields of Monroe County,
PA, a sister-in-law, Mae Allbrooks of Franklin, TN, four grandchildren; Kelly Re, Kevin, David and Brian Palmer, two great-grandchildren,
one niece and one nephew. A memorial
service will be held at a later date at the Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle. Burial will be at the convenience
of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
