
Mary Josephine Braun, 88, passed away on Sunday,
July 10, 2011, following a brief illness at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was a former resident at the
Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg and a long-time resident of Satellite Beach, Florida.
She was born on March 8, 1923, in East Liverpool,
Ohio, a daughter of the late John Franklin Curren and Florence (Jackson) Curren, and was married for 45 years to the
late Major (Ret) Albert F. Braun, U. S. Army, who died March 21, 1987. Also preceding Mary in death were her son,
Gary and a grandson, Jerome.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of East Liverpool
High School. She was currently a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Carlisle, where she was a member
of the Daughter's of the King.
She is survived by three sons; John D. (and
his wife, Dorothy) Braun of Oldsmar, Florida, James R. (and his wife, Mary) Braun of Newville and Ronald A. (and his
wife, Karen) Braun of Anchorage, Alaska, one daughter, Rebecca L. (and her husband, Peter) Leidich of Derby, Kansas, one
sister, Shirley Ann Main of Port St. John, Florida and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St.
John’s Episcopal Church, On the Square in Carlisle on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Edward J. Peck,
Jr. officiating. Follow-on services and burial in Riverview Cemetery will be held in East Liverpool, Ohio with
Dawson Funeral Home in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 612,
Carlisle, PA 17013.

Josephine was a lovely lady, one who could make you
smile even if you did not feel like smiling. I thought of her often and always appreciated her humor.---Oscar as well.
