

John W. Hoerner, 85, of Carlisle, died Tuesday,
May 10, 2011, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on Thursday, October 29, 1925, in Carlisle, and was the son of the late
Lloyd C. and Helen (Lintner) Hoerner.
John was a 1944 graduate of Carlisle High School
and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a self-employed contractor and electrician in the Carlisle area for many years.
John loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting. He was a former member of the Bellaire Acres Rod & Gun
Club in Clearfield also the Union Fire Co., Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services, Eagles Aerie 1299 and the White Circle Club,
all of Carlisle.
He is survived by his loving and devoted
wife of nearly 63 years, Bernice "Bern" L. (Wimer) Hoerner, one son, Eric W. Hoerner (and his fiancé, Vicky Hudson) of Carlisle, one sister, Dortha C. (and her husband, William L.) Adams of Carlisle, a
daughter-in-law, Linda S. Hoerner of Mt. Holly Springs, five grandchildren; Lindsey Mentzer and Brandon, Adam, Andrew
and Benjamin Hoerner, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John was a preceded in death by one son, Richard
D. "Butch" Hoerner, who died in 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on
Monday, May 16, 2011, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. John L. Shellenberger, Jr.
officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until
time of the services at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends for a time of fellowship immediately following
the graveside service at Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist
Church, 64 E. North St., Carlisle, or to Carlisle Fire & Rescue Services, 177 Spring Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013.
