

SMSgt (Ret) Robert C. Rickert, USAF, 69, of Athens
and Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on Saturday, June 7, 1941, in Carlisle,
a son of the late Ben H. Rickert, Sr. and Evelyn (Cornman) Rickert.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of Cumberland Valley
High School and soon thereafter began his career in the U. S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and retired as a
Senior Master Sergeant in 1981 after 22 years of honorable service. After his retirement from the military, Bob was employed
with the CVI Cable Co. in Sayre for 14 years and then worked for Time Warner Cable Co. in Binghamton, NY until his retirement
on March 24, 2011. Bob enjoyed going on cruises, fixing up homes and was a workaholic. He will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife
of nearly 50 years, Lei Lani E. (Smith) Rickert, two daughters; Dr. Kim L. Rickert (and her husband, Brian Selberg) of Dallas,
TX and Kelly L. Rickert of Liverpool, NY, one son, Andrew S. Rickert (and his companion, Renee’ Smith) of Athens, two
granddaughters; Megan R. Rickert, Esquire (and her husband, Alex Dreyer) of Atlanta, GA and Morgan E. Harrington of W. Henrietta,
NY, one sister, Joann (and her husband, Harry) Kern of Jamison, two nieces, two nephews, one uncle and several cousins. Bob
was preceded in death by one brother, Ben H. Rickert, Jr., who died in 2000.
A memorial service will be announced at a later
date. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburg, PA 17043.

I served with Robert at the 692nd Radar Sq. in Baudette
during the late 60s and early 70s. Robert was one of the most respected NCOIC on the base. He will be missed by many of his

Mr. Rickert was a friend and mentor to me while
at TWC Binghamto. 5 years ago I transfered to Austin TX TW. I called him the day he retired. I will always remember
him telling me "At least you got that goin for you"( when I told him I was a USAF veteran). Also the time he spent at
my home having coffee with my wife Nancy and I, while helping us with ac outlets in our home. A good and honorable man is
how I will always remember him.
Bob... you will be missed by the Uhrinec family.
