
Lucy H. Conn, at the age of 83, entered into eternal life on April 30,
2011, at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born on Nov. 6, 1927, in Berryville, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late
Charles H. and Lydia (Mitchell) Holmes.
Lucy received her early education in the Virginia school system before
moving to Carlisle and attending the Carlisle Area School District. She was a dedicated and devoted employee and had worked
at the former Hunts Crystal Plant, Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co., The Officers Club at Carlisle Barracks and retired from the
former Book of the Month Club. Lucy was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle, where she was a Deacon, a
former Deaconess, a member of the Rachel H. Davis Missionary Ministry, the Golden Girls and former coordinator of the Flower
Guild Ministry.
To cherish her memory are three granddaughters; Gloria Daniel of Arizona,
Heather Ortiz of Oklahoma and Cherise Sutton of Harrisburg, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a former
daughter-in-law, Darlene Turner-Bartee and a host of nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her son, Edward I.
Turner, a brother, Charles H. Holmes, two sisters; Margretta Simmons and Bernice Butler, a granddaughter, Reverend Denise
Sullivan and a great-grandson, Emmanuel Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, on the corner of Lincoln and North West Streets in Carlisle. Rev. Fred D. Johnson will officiating.
Viewing be at the church on Friday from 10:30 am until time of the services. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial
Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be
made to her church at 409 N. West St., Carlisle, PA 17013.

Miss Lucy played a big role in my life when I was a
kid growing up on West St. Her son, Eddie, was my best friend and she was one of the caring West Street Moms. Go with
God.
