Larry V. Hockenberry, 59, of Carlisle, died Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was born on Sunday, September 30, 1951, in Carlisle, a son of Margaret (Hull) Noel of Carlisle and the late Victor O. Hockenberry.

Larry was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  He served during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Larry had been employed at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot since 1979, where he was currently a computer specialist with D.I.S.A.

In addition to his mother, he is survived his loving and devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Ella I. (Keck) Hockenberry, a son, James Hockenberry (and wife, Anamarija) of Stuttgart, Germany, a daughter, Jennifer Garcia (and husband, Arturo) of Carlisle, two brothers; Dale Hockenberry (and wife, Sophie) of Shermansdale and Kim Hockenberry (and wife, Shirley) of Carlisle, two sisters; Darlene McCabe (and husband, John) of Landisburg and Kandy Hurley (and husband, Rick) of Chalfont, grandchildren; Sven and Erik Hockenberry and Abril Garcia and many nieces and nephews including, Lillie Baum of Carlisle.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Russell Higginbotham officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
