
John A. Hinkle, 84, of Carlisle, passed away
on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the home of his son. He was born on Saturday, December 26, 1926, in Cumberland County, and
was a son of the late Clyde A. and Edna (Murtoff) Hinkle.
John was a WW II Army veteran and held the victory
medal. He retired from Carlisle Tire and Rubber Company after thirty nine years of service as a plant manager. He was a member
of Victory Tabernacle Church, Carlisle, and the American Legion of Wormleysburg.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years,
Lillian L. (Armolt) Hinkle, a son, Robert S. (and his wife, Jean L.) Hinkle of Carlisle, a daughter, Lynda J. Pierre of Columbia
, TN, two brothers; Oscar Hinkle of Carlisle and Clyde Hinkle of WI; four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenwood, four sisters; Alice Lay, JoAnne Gibb, Dorothy Finkey
and Nancy Finkey and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services with military
honors provided by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Mt.Holly Cemetery, Mt. Holly, with
Rev. Glenn H. Yohn officiating. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, is handling arrangements.
