Dorothy J. Besore, 86, of Carlisle, passed away
Thursday, October 28, 2010, in the Chapel Pointe Health Center, Carlisle. Born Wednesday, September 10, 1924, in Carlisle,
she was a daughter of the late Morris J. Quigley and Grace (Richwine) Quigley and the widow of John W. Besore, Sr., who died
in 1999.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Carlisle High
School. She retired from the former Kinney Shoe Corp. after 44 years of service. She was a member of Green Spring First Church
of God, Newville and was formerly active with the Valley Cedarettes in Shippensburg, Carlisle AARP 4377, Big Spring Senior
Center, Plainfield Senior Citizens Club, Carlisle Shamrock Club, the Old Bellaire Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Good
Sam’s Camping Club.
She is survived by a son, John W. Besore, Jr.
and wife Vicki of York, a daughter, Judy M. Besore of Dublin, PA, grandchildren; Timothy Burkholder, Bethany Otto, John W.
Besore, III, Dustin Besore and Gabriel Welkom, four great-grandchildren and one niece, Nancy Blumenstock. Dorothy was also
preceded in death by a brother, Ray. F. Quigley and a sister, Pauline Blumenstock.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in the Green Spring First Church of God, 1140 Green Spring Rd., Newville, with Pastor Philip E.
Steele officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Monday from 6
- 8:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, where an Eastern Star service will be held at
7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to her church.
