Alan Lynn Jumper, 48, of South Middleton Township died at his home on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.

Born September 23, 1962, Alan was the youngest son of Lester and Doris Jumper. In July, 1988 Alan married Sandra Baker. They had three sons of whom Alan was very proud: Robert Alan; Benjamin Lynn; and Steven Eugene.

After working at the Deer Lodge Restaurant, he worked the majority of his career in the apple industry at both Knouse Foods and Mott's in Adams County. Most recently, he was employed by Kaman Industries in York.

Alan always had a positive attitude and outlook on life which he shared with his wife, sons, and friends. Even in the darkest days of his illness, Alan saw his glass as "half-full." He also had a passion for the outdoors and particularly loved to fish and hunt.

Alan is also survived by a son, Derek Bretzman, and two half-brothers, Rodger and Frank Jumper of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Eugene Jumper.

Alan was a member of First Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Good Samaritan Lodge No. 336 in Gettysburg, and Camp 18 in Arendtsville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at First Lutheran Church, 21 South Bedford Street, Carlisle with the Rev. Charles A. Brophy officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Church. Visitation will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover Street on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Children's Miracle Network, 600 Centerview Drive, P.O. Box 855, Hershey, PA 17033-0855. Please notate that the donation is made in Alan's memory.

If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to call.
Leroy and Terry Jumper

God saw that Alan was getting tired and a cure was not to be.  So he put His arms around him and whispered "come with me".  With tearful eyes you watched him, and saw him pass away.  Although you loved him dearly, you could not make him stay.  A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands are at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the BEST!

Lorie, Bill, Nathan & Natasha Cressler
