Clyde E. "Red" Schmohl, 78, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Friday, May 13, 1932, in Carlisle, a son of the late Charles Edward Schmohl and Pearl (Carbaugh) Schmohl.

Clyde retired from Frog Switch Manufacturing Co. in Carlisle after nearly 40 years of service. He served in the PA National Guard, 104th Armored Cavalry for nine years. Red was an avid sportsmen, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, roller skating and square dancing. He was a former member of Big Horn Hunting Camp in Clinton County and also enjoyed NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Janet D. (Hummel) Schmohl, a son, Dennis L. (and his wife, Vonnie) Schmohl of Carlisle, a daughter, Kathi M. Schmohl also of Carlisle, a sister, Anna Mae (and her husband, Philip) Harbold of Dillsburg, two grandchildren, Christie Blake and Matthew Schmohl, three great-grandchildren; Caleigh, Cameron and Kierra Blake and several nieces and nephews. Clyde was preceded in death by several step-brothers and step-sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Bill Shutt officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Friday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences. My great grandfather who is Phillip Schmohl (1850 -1930),from Carlisle must be related. I'm John, born in Philly. Our great great grandfather was John (1824-1904). He is buried in the Carlisle cemetery.
