William R. Dougherty, 92, of Enola, Pa formerly of Donora
died Sunday, September 12, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dougherty was born in Donora on March 9, 1918 a son
of the late James S. and Margaret E. (Corey) Dougherty.
He was retired after 30 years as an equipment specialist
for the US Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Mr Dougherty was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Force, a Protestant by
faith, a member of the Harrisburg Chapter of the Keystone Capital Choral Society, a member of the Barbershop Quartet, the
VFW Post 7530 Lower Allen, and the Eureka Lodge F&AM #302. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Clark) Dougherty
who died in 1991, three brothers, and three sisters. Mr. Dougherty was the last surviving member of his large loving family.
He enjoyed traveling, working with leather, fixing old clocks, and coin collecting.
Survivors include his two
sons Robert J., and his wife Marjorie, of Enola, Pa and Thomas J., and his wife Roberta, of Apopka, Fla; two grandsons Robert
J., Jr. and Shaun M. Dougherty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Friends will be
received on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the James A. Rabe Funeral Home Inc., 701 Thompson Ave., Donora from 10:00 a.m.
until 11:00 a.m. the time of service with the Rev. Michael Milinovich of the First United Methodist Church in Monongahela
officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, handled the local
arrangements.
