Joan C. Butler, 77, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, September
2, 2010, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Monday, December 12, 1932, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late
Benjamin F. and Nora (Smith) Case and the widow of Petty Officer First Class (Ret) William R. Butler, III, US Navy, who died
July 31, 2005.
Joan retired from the former Carlisle Ribbon Mill after nearly 35 years
of service. She was a member of Carlisle Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed playing bingo and backgammon. Joan was also
a loving homemaker and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by four daughters; Kathy J. (and her husband, Terry)
Wagner of Carlisle, Deborah L. (and her husband, Jack) Bricker of Boiling Springs, Yvonne M. (and her husband, Randy) Gates
of Newville and Billie Jo Butler of Silver Springs, MD, one son, GySgt (Ret) Benjamin C. Holmes, USMC (and his wife, Mari)
of College Station, TX, her twin sister, Jeannette Morrison of Carlisle, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter
and several nieces and nephews. Joan was also preceded in death by her twin brothers, Benjamin and William Case.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010,
at her granddaughter’s home, Dawn Bishop, 902 Cavalry St., Carlisle. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery,
Annville at a later date. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to

Billie and family, I am so sorry to hear of the
passing of Joan. I have such fond memories of both her and Bill while visiting at their Boiling Springs home. I know how
hard it is, I lost my Mom last year. I hope you find comfort in knowing she is in a better place and is no longer suffering. I
