Chester L. Christopher, 72, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010, in the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. He was born on Saturday, July 23, 1938, in Bedford County, a son of the late Robert E. and Cora H. (Foor) Christopher.

Chester had worked in the maintenance departments for Messiah College and the Borough of Carlisle. He was a member of the Carlisle Salvation Army Church and the Salvation Army Mens Club.

Chester is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Helen P. (Duncan) Christopher, a stepson, Paul D. Walters, Jr. of Carlisle, three stepdaughters; Karen M. (and her husband, Gary) Darr of Carlisle, Barbara Ann (and her husband, Robert) Rayhart of Enola and Brenda K. (and her husband, Charles) Baskin of Duncannon, eight step-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Captain Randy Orr officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 20 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
