Anna C. (Barbour)
Sentz, 93, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was
born on Monday, April 2, 1917, in the Pine Grove Furnace area and was a daughter of the late Joseph D. and
Nora E. (Maus) Barbour. She was the widow of Donald T. Sentz, who died October 25, 1993.
Anna was a 1935 graduate
of Carlisle High School. She retired from the Commonwealth of PA Department of Employment Security, where she was an
administrator. She formerly worked at the Standard Piezo Co., Carlisle and received the Distinguished Award for serving
on the "E" Production Project in support of WWII Communication Activities. She was a member of First United Methodist
Church, Carlisle and was a member of the Eastern Star Old Bellaire Chapter #375.
Anna is survived
by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Lockwood Hockley of Port St. Lucie, FL, seven nephews; Rodney S. Miller of Gardners, Charles
E. Miller of Scotland, PA, Richard S. Hockley of Carlisle, Joseph F. Miller of Pocatello, ID, George A. Yeager of Camp Hill,
Peter W. Bracken and Paul W. Bracken, both of Lexington, KY, three nieces; Gertrude A. Yeager of West Chester, Pamela
S. Bracken and Paula A. Bracken, both of Lexington, KY. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in
death by four sisters; Dorothy Miller, Marie Orham, Thelma Yeager and Patricia Bracken, her brother, E. Richard Hockley, a
niece, Susan Lynn Ardinger and her step-father, Elmer F. Hockley.
A memorial service
will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 in First United Methodist Church, 64 E. North St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
Rev. John L. Shellenberger will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time
of service. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle
is in charge of arrangements.
