Walter H. Gantz, Sr., 76, of Newville, passed away with
his loving family by his side on Friday, May 28, 2010, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born on Friday, September
8, 1933, in Lancaster County, son of the late Walter B. and Miriam E. (Hess) Gantz.
Walter retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Co. in
Steelton after more than 30 years of combined service with Bethlehem Steel and their former Cornwall Mines division in Cornwall.
He and his wife also owned and operated the family farm in Penn Twp. for more than 34 years. He attended Diller Mennonite
Church, Newville. Walter truly enjoyed farming and anything to do with farming.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years,
Carol L. (Seibert) Gantz, a daughter, Brenda L. (and her husband, Michael) Reed of Newburg, three sons; Kevin B. (and his
wife, PatriciaAnn) Gantz of Walnut Bottom, Stephen B. (and his wife, Carolyn) Gantz of Boiling Springs and Walter H., Jr.
(and his wife, Shantay) Gantz of Shippensburg, six grandsons, five granddaughters, two step-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Walter was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ulrich and twin grandsons; Michael and Kyle Gantz.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday,
June 2, 2010, in the Diller Mennonite Church, 345 Creek Rd., Newville, with Pastor Dennis Witmer officiating. Burial will
be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of the services. Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the M. S. Hershey
Medical Center-Cancer Institute,
