Arlene R. Shannon, 79, of Newville, loving mother and grandmother,
peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010, in Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle. She was born on
Thursday, August 21, 1930, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Roy Wolfe and Beatrice (Graham) Wolfe Martin and the widow
of Jay H. Shannon, who died Oct. 18, 2001.
Arlene had co-owned and operated along with her late husband,
Shannon’s Grocery Store in Centerville for 26 years. She was a member of South Fairview First Church of God, Newville.
Arlene enjoyed being a homemaker, watching baseball and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Stan J. Shannon of Newville, a
daughter, Vickie S. Greer of Carlisle and two grandchildren; Andrea Shannon and Ian Shannon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18,
2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Harry Madison officiating. Burial will be
in Centerville Memorial Park, Newville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may
be made to South Fairview First Church of God, 1212 Centerville Rd., Newville, PA 17241.
