Creedin R. "Jake" Shughart, 84, of Carlisle, died peacefully
on Friday, April 2, 2010, in the Chapel Pointe Health Center, Carlisle. He was born on Saturday, July 4, 1925, in Carlisle,
a son of the late Norman P. Shughart and Esther E. (Miller) Shughart.
Creedin retired after more than 30 years of service at the
former Castle’s Lumber and Home Center, Carlisle and he also farmed for many years. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Neil Shughart and a sister, Genevie Hoover.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of nearly 50
years, Ruth W. (Zimmerman) Shughart, a son, Elmer Shughart of Newville, a daughter, Judy Davis of Gaithersburg, MD, one step-son,
Leonard Welch of Pen Argyl, two brothers; Leverne and Eugene Shughart both of Carlisle, two sisters; Kathleen Rynard of Carlisle
and Mary Gensler of Boiling Springs, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April
6, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Walt Frankenberry officiating. Burial
will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Monday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
