Nancy B. Johnson, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, March 24,
2010, in Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle. She was born on Friday, May 30, 1924, in Jersey City, a daughter
of the late, Carl and Inga (Ringborg) Berg, and the widow of Richard C. Johnson, who died Feb. 10, 2008.
Nancy was a high school graduate and received her Bachelors degree in Health
Education from Jersey City State Teachers College. She was a Registered Nurse. Nancy retired after 25 years of service with
the former Visiting Nurse Service of Carlisle Hospital, where she had been the Director for 21 years. She enjoyed cooking,
knitting, sewing, flower gardening and volunteering her time with Carlisle Birthrite.
Nancy is survived by a son, Richard R. (and his wife, Patti) Johnson of
Boiling Springs, a daughter, Susan I. Houghton of Carlisle, four grandchildren; Matthew Houghton, Jennifer Yingling, Rebecca
Vrabel and Andrea Johnson, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010, in the
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Daniel L. Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Ashland
Cemetery, Carlisle. A visitation will be held on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Helen Krouse Foundation, P.O. Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
