Charlotte L.“Lovey” Brock, 63, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Friday, December 13, 1946 in Carlisle and was a daughter of Betty M. (Hinton) Petty, of Carlisle and the late Charles Y. Petty.  She was the widow of Edward Carlton “Carl” Brock, who died March 12, 1986.

Lovey was a 1965 graduate of Carlisle High School and was a Claims Processor for over 20 years at PA Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  She also worked several years at the former Book Of The Month Club.  She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle and enjoyed gardening and cooking for others, but she especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Jarrett S. Brock and Jade C. Brock, both of Carlisle and her daughter, Joslyn Y. Brock of Carlisle, two brothers; Charles Y. “Skip” Petty, Jr. and Ernest “Joe” L. Petty, both of Carlisle, two sisters; Lisa Petty Christopher of Carlisle and Judith Ann Smallwood of South Lake, TX, seven grandchildren; Isiah S. Hall, Shaquay K. Brock, Yonna R. Brock, Chandler A. Brock, Akeya J. Brock, Heather M. Brock and Chase A. Brock and several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Yvette Marie Petty.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in the Carlisle Alliance Church, 237 E. North St., Carlisle.  Pastors Duane and Cathy Coleman will officiate.  Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central PA, 800 Corporate Circle, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

We were saddened to hear of Aunt Charlottes death. I want you to know we will be praying for all of you as you work through this. Remember God is merciful, so take your pain and dump it in the nail-pierced hand of our Savior and let him be a comforter, a healer, and way maker for you during this difficult time. He will fill you with the most amazing peace and comfort.  He promises a new body and no more pain and His promises are true.  Know with certainty we will keep praying for you all.

Jade, Jarrett and Joslyn - Your mom was one of those people that I looked forward to seeing on my visits home.  I will miss her laugh.  She had the best sense of humor!  I know you are hurting now but take comfort in knowing that your mom is at peace.  Let the memories and the love of family and friends provide healing to you during this difficult time.  God is in control and He will see you through!

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mom, my best friend, to lung cancer in 1998. She, like Lovey, was an awsome lady. Even though Lovey is no longer physically with your family you'll see her in the grandkids...and it will make you smile!
