Romaine F. Pegues, 90, of Carlisle, passed away with family by her side on Friday, March 5, 2010, in her son’s home. She was born on Thursday, December 25, 1919, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn (Boswell) Drew. She was the widow of David Pegues, Jr., a retired Army veteran with twenty years of service and a retired employee of the PA Higher Education Agency in Harrisburg. He died February 11, 1999.

Romaine graduated from Carlisle High School and Beauty School in Philadelphia. She was a retired beautician. She owned her own shop in Carlisle for many years and had also managed and operated a shop during her husband’s military duty at Ft. Dix, NJ. Romaine attended the Bibleway Hibner Memorial Church of God In Christ, Carlisle. She enjoyed bowling for many years at the Carlisle Barracks.

She is survived by a son, David (and his wife, Dorenia) Pegues, III of Carlisle, a daughter, Joanne O’Neal of Mt. Vernon, NY, a granddaughter, Davona Pegues, three grandsons; Rondald O’Neal, Jr., Marc O’Neal and Phillip O’Neal, two great-grandsons; Rondald O’Neal, III and Amiri O’Neal, a sister, Mary K. Johnson of Carlisle and a number of nieces and nephews. Romaine was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Drew.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Robert L. Woodall officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the services. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I am so very sorry for your loss, she was a great woman!  Remember John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life!
