
Charles L. Griffie, 75, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday,
January 11, 2010, in his home. He was born on Saturday, July 14, 1934, in Gardners, and was a son of the late George L. and
Gertrude (Hockley) Griffie.
Charlie retired after many years of service with R. S. Mowery
Construction in Mechanicsburg. He regularly attended the Newburg First Church of God, and was an avid "Phillies" fan, enjoyed
hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha J. (Sampson)
Griffie, a daughter, Lisa J. (and her husband, Douglas) Laughlin of Newburg, two brothers; George Griffie, Jr. of Gardners
and Larry Griffie of Elliottsburg, five sisters; Doris Shoemaker and Judy Paxton both of Gardners and Catherine Smith, Janet
Clark and Mildred Deihl all of Carlisle, his grandson, Connor Laughlin of Newburg and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010
at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Dale H. Miller, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of
the services at the funeral home. Memorials contributions may be made to Celtic Hospice, Suite 100, 220 Wilson St., Carlisle,
PA 17013 or to the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110-1342.
