William F. "Bill" Ickes, 81, of Newville, died peacefully Wednesday,
January 6, 2010, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Thursday, April 19, 1928, in Carlisle, and was a
son of the late Frank M. and Mary E. (Salisbury) Ickes and was widowed from Jacqueline (Jumper) Ickes.
Bill was a longtime auto body technician. He worked at the
former Rufe Chevrolet in Carlisle, and for the past 45 years with the Bob Baish Auto Body and Glass Shop also in Carlisle.
Bill was an avid hunter, loved the outdoors and was a regular at the Farmers Market Restaurant in Carlisle. He was preceded
in death by two sons.
Bill is survived by two sons; David A. Ickes of York Springs and Roger
L. Ickes of Colorado, one daughter, Lisa Finkenbinder of Mt. Holly Springs, one brother, Glenn Ickes of Newville, one sister,
Verna Reisinger of Carlisle, five grandchildren; Tara Sweeney, Derek Finkenbinder, Blake Finkenbinder, Jay Goodling and Mike
Goodling, one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Goodling and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for Bill will be held on Friday, January
15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Lewis Spain officiating.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services on Friday. Burial will be at the convenience
of the family. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110-1342.

Sincere sympathy to the Ickes family on the passing
