Steven,
known throughout the community as Steve, was born in Carlisle in 1960, the son of Seymour A. Ewing & Joan Lindsey Ewing. He graduated from Carlisle High School
in 1978 and immediately began working at the former Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co. In January of 1979, Steve entered
York College, York and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelors of Science degree in business management.
During his years at York College he earned Dean's List recognition and was selected as the Captain of the York College intercollegiate
baseball team for his junior and senior years.
Steve
graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Pittsburgh
in 1983. He graduated Valedictorian of his class and was the recipient of The
John Rebol Award, presented to the student earning the highest overall grade point average.
He was honored with the Mu Sigma Alpha Award for outstanding academic proficiency, leadership, and community service.
Steve returned to Carlisle in the fall of 1983 to begin his intership under the tutelage
of his Father Seymour and his Uncle Bill. Upon completion of the internship and subsequent licensure in 1984, Steve
began the journey as a fifth generation Ewing funeral director. He took over the
family business in 2004 with his Father and Uncle by his side. Steve is honored to serve the greater Carlisle community with the same traditional values, compassion, and integrity that his family
has represented Since 1853.
Steve
is currently a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, President
Emeritus of the Capital City Funeral Directors Association, and the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce.
Steve and
his wife, Jane Baish Ewing, currently reside on Rockledge Dr., Carlisle with their two children, Colton R. Ewing and
Carrie J. Ewing.
Steve
currently holds a Pennsylvania Funeral Director License, Pennsylvania Funeral Supervisor License, and a Pennsylvania
Life Insurance & Annuties License.
