Command Sergeant Major (Ret) Glenn E. Railing,
US Army Reserve, age 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Chapel Pointe in Carlisle.
He was born on August 8, 1926 in Carlisle and was a son of the late Lee M. and Edith M. (Wagner) Railing.
Glenn graduated in
1944 from Carlisle High School and shortly thereafter entered the U. S. Army. He was a veteran of WWII
and retired from the U. S. Army Reserve after 29 years of service. He also retired from the Naval Supply
Depot in Mechanicsburg after many years of service. Glenn was a life member of V.F.W., American Legion
Post and the AmVets all of Carlisle. He was also a member of NARFE, Carlisle Fish & Game Association,
Mt. Holly Springs Golden Age Club and AARP.
He is survived by one sister, Joyce
I. (husband, Merle) Warner of Carlisle, two nephews; Michael (wife, Karen) Railing and David (wife, Cindy) Warner
and five nieces; Linda (husband, Al) Stamey, Brenda (husband, Doug) Bradley, Sandy (husband, Ron) Weibley,
Dianne (husband, Jim) Czupil and Amy (husband, Mark) Wagner. Glenn was predeceased by one brother,
Karl L. Railing and one sister, Verna K. Shafer.
A visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.
on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover
St., Carlisle with Pastor Steve Motter officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.
