Merle D. Sennett, 81, of Newville, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.  He was born on July 21, 1937, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Harry Sennett and Sarah (Danner) Sennett.

He was a former employee of C.H. Masland & Sons of Carlisle for 38 years.   He then spent later years working with the local Townships.  Merle was a great devoted husband and family man, being a statue of strength and an example to them.  He also was an avid outdoorsman, loving to camp, hunt and fish with his family.   He loved to pitch horseshoes and spend time in the woods collecting firewood and being in the outdoors.

He was loved by all his family, friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed.   Merle was a member of the South Fairview First Church of God, Newville and the Big Spring Fish & Game.

He is survived by one daughter, Darlene L. (husband, Michael) Failor of Carlisle, one son, Tony M. (wife, Linda) Sennett of Newville, two brothers; Ronald Sennett of Newville and Donald Sennett of Carlisle, four grandchildren; Michelle Failor, Michael Failor, Jr., Cody Sennett and Cindy (Sennett) Garman, five great-grandchildren; Jamie Miller, Kiara Failor, Maddy Failor, Garrett Garman and Sadie Garman and many nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Phillis A. Sennett, two sisters; Twyla Sennett and Delamea Crum and one brother, Harry Sennett.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Kevin Dunlop officiating.  Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  www.Since1853.com.
