Taylor A. Hodge, Jr., 83, of Carlisle, died on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his home.  He was born on September 17, 1935 in Carlisle and was a son of the late Taylor A. Hodge, Sr. and Florence Patricia (Brown) Hodge.

Taylor graduated from Carlisle High School in 1954 where he was a running back for the football team and a track team member.  Taylor participated in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.  He retired in 1995 from PPG Industries, Carlisle with 26 years of service.  Taylor was employed for 20 years as the Executive chauffeur with the former C.H. Masland &
Sons, Carlisle.  He was a member of the Bethel A.M.E Church in Carlisle where he served in many capacities including; Usher and as the Pastor Steward.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Candace J. (Byers) Hodge, one son, Taylor L. “Butch” (wife, Kathy) Hodge of New Bern, NC and one daughter, Barbara A. “Sally” Williams of Carlisle. Taylor graciously accepted Candy’s three daughters as his own children; Shasme Parker Jackson of Harrisburg, Sophia Parker Bassett and Sara Parker both taylorof Carlisle.  Also, one brother, Earl. C. “Crick” Hodge, one sister, Faye C. Hodge both of Carlisle, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  Taylor was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora L. (Stripling) Hodge, one son, Tyrone L. Hodge, one brother, Emory D. Hodge, one sister, Sondra E. Hodge-Bell and one son-in-law, Eddie Williams.

A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Marilyn Hubbard officiating.  Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  www.Since1853.com.

Taylor you were my Father-in-law even though Tyrone and didntmake It to the altar (God had a different plan) . You were PopPop to our two daughters and our six grandchildren. I know that you Loved them Very much. I will miss your laugh and your picking on me, which I grew to know as your affection. Reunited with your Beloved wife and son I know you are Rejoicing in the Heavens. Until we meet again. Love Lisa S.
