Jacqueline S. (Stewart) Bishop, 75, known by many as Jackie or Sue, formerly of Mechanicsburg, was a resident of Claremont Nursing Home in Carlisle, and passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center in Carlisle, PA.  She was born on April 25, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kansas and was a daughter of the late William J. Stewart and Ruth L. (Emmons) Thompson.  She was formerly married to Victor R. Chubb and gave birth to their four children.

Jackie was raised in Colorado Springs, CO and moved to Mechanicsburg, PA in mid-1963.  She became an active member of what is now known as First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg (and later St. Mark’s UMC in Harrisburg) and over time became heavily involved in the activities within the church including teaching Sunday School classes, children’s ministries, singing and leading choirs.  Outside of the church, she led her daughter’s Brownie Troup and Junior Girl Scout Troup.  She also taught piano lessons.  She was once a member of the local American Legion and Knights of Columbus.  Her many interests included music, needle crafts, dancing, roller skating, camping and ping pong (family tradition).

She is survived by a daughter: Regina S. (Chubb) Munchel of Dillsburg, PA; three sons: Scott B. Chubb of Mechanicsburg, PA; Andrew R. Chubb (Shawanda, wife) of Mechanicsburg, PA; and Steven M. Chubb (Nicole, wife) of Kannapolis, NC; seven grandchildren: Joel, Brittany, Dylon, Amanda, Liam, Daniel and Robert; two great-grandchildren, Laona and Elijah.  Jackie was preceded in death by three sisters, Pat, Ruth, Bonnie and their step-father, Albert Thompson.

In following Jackie’s wishes, there will be no public memorial.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, will be handling the cremation.  www.Since1853.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America (DementiaSociety.org).
