Julia Ann (Palmer) Stackfield, 86, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November
20, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle. She was born on June 1, 1932 in Carlisle and was the daughter of the late William Henry
Palmer and Sarah Catherine (Brown) Palmer.
Julia graduated from Carlisle High School with the Class of
1950. She was one of two African American students who had to pass a test which enabled her to attend the Carlisle High School.
She was a member of Bethel A. M. E. Church, Carlisle. Julia retired from AMP Inc. in Carlisle after more than 15 years of
service.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas E. Stackfield, 6 sons; Gary L. and Anthony
Q. Stackfield (Shanna) of Carlisle, Milton L. and Vincent E. Stackfield (Lynn) of Shippensburg, Richard A Stackfield (Stephanie)
of Boiling Springs and Marshall L. Stackfield (Kaye), San Clemente, CA. 2 daughters; Angela Stackfield-White (Meredith) and
Mary Porter of Carlisle, 26 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren 1 great-great grandchild on the way, 2 sisters; Shirley
Mae Palmer of Harrisburg and Jacqueline Palmer of Carlisle and 1 brother, Luther Palmer of Virginia and a host of relatives
and friends. She was preceded in death by 3 sons; William, Charles and Thomas C. Stackfield, 1 daughter, Patricia A
Thompson, 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Julia was truly a child of God. She loved people and was a
“Mom” to everyone. Always greeted everyone with “Hi Babes” and open arms.
A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 followed by funeral
services at 12:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Ivy Berry officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. www.Since1853.com.
