Ardella May Shatto Mathna, 88, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle-Carlisle.  She was born on May 14, 1930 in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Lester and Blanche (Heberlig) Shatto.  She was married for 65 years to the late Floyd E. Mathna who passed away on June 9, 2017.

Ardella was a graduate of Carlisle High School. During her earlier years, she served as a hospitality hostess at the former Cumberland County Home & Hospital where her father, Lester Shatto served as Superintendent.  After her marriage to Floyd, she became a clerk for several years at the former Kinney Shoe Corp. Ardella's joyous spirit was evident to all who knew her for even a brief period, as was her dedicated and loving devotion to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ardella's joyous spirit had additional impact on many children's lives while she served as a pre-school through kindergarten age Sunday school teacher for over 40 years at Faith Chapel, Carlisle. Finally, she continued in the service that she loved for fifteen years with the children at Bethel Nursery and Daycare.  Ardella was a charter member of Faith Chapel.

She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Boudman of Ogden, UT, two sons; Brad L. Mathna of Etters and Jon Mathna of Carlisle, one brother, Blaine L. (wife, Pat) Shatto of Carlisle, Rhelda (husband, Harold) Gleim of Florence, SC, two grandchildren; Brandon Boudman and Tracy Mastergeorge, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in Faith Chapel, 1453 Holly Pike, Carlisle, PA 17015 with Pastor Michael Mayer officiating.  Burial will be in LeTort Cemetery, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Cumberland County, 150 Fairview Dr., Carlisle, PA 17013.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  www.Since1853.com.
