
Thelma M. Diven, 90, of Carlisle, passed
away at home on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 with her loving daughters by her side. She was born on January
21, 1928 in Bloserville and was the daughter of the late Mary Rosetta (Fry) Menges and G. Elmer Menges. She
was married to the late Jimmy K. Diven, Sr. who died on May 27, 1992. Thelma retired after
many years of service at the former Lear (Masland Carpets) Corporation, and she and her late husband owned and operated a
farm in Upper Frankford Twp. for many years. She was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God.
Thelma enjoyed being with her family, playing cards, and meeting her friends every Tuesday for donuts at the Giant
Food Store on Walnut Bottom Road. She especially enjoyed the yearly family vacation to Bethany Beach. Thelma is survived
by three daughters; Trudy D. (James) Strine, Mary Jo (Gary) Gibson and Cynthia A. (Bradley) Mentzer all of Carlisle, two sisters;
Carol (Elmer) Smeigh and Gayle Gutshall both of Carlisle, five grandchildren; Nicole (Scott) Donato, Nadeen (John) Bogonis,
Eli Diven (Rebecca Good), Susan (David) Emerick and Wesley (Leah) Gibson, two step-grandchildren; Thomas
(Cora) Gibson and Peter Gibson, five great-grandchildren; Regan and Camden Donato, Halle Bogonis, Ethan Emerick and Alexa
Diven, two step- great-grandchildren; Haylee Kessler and Mia Gibson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy K. Diven, Jr. and one sister, Sarah Smith. A viewing will begin
at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630
S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Michael Poe officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial
Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial donations in Thelma’s name may be made to Carlisle First Church of God,
705 Glendale St., Carlisle, PA 17013 to be used for senior activities (JOTS). Visit
