Janet G. Rutz, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at UPMC-Carlisle.  She was born on August 31, 1936 in Scranton and was a daughter of the late Harry M. and Leona L. Janet graduated in 1954 from Abington High School in Clark’s Summit and earned her Bachelors’ degree in music education from Susquehanna University.  Janet briefly taught music at Boiling Springs High School and continued her passion for music by volunteering in various organizations and nursing homes sharing her talent on the piano.  She sang in the church choir at the former Allison United Methodist Church in Carlisle for over 30 years and enjoyed the privilege to sing in the Messiah annually for many years.  First and foremost, Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Gary Gordon (wife, Sue) Rutz of Mechanicsburg, two sisters; Marilyn Florey of Scranton and Margie Wilmarth of Marietta, GA, two grandsons; Ryan Edward Rutz and Eric Gordon (wife, Cassandra) Rutz, three step-grandchildren; Ashley (husband, Carl) Martin, Courtney (fiancé, Wyatt York) Beadore and Jason (husband, Stephen) Beadore-Minnoff, three great-grandchildren; Kadence, Ryleigh and Weston, former daughter-in-law, Tammy W. Rutz of Mechanicsburg and several nieces and nephews.  Janet was preceded in death by one brother, Wally Gordon.
