Vernon E.
Wickard, 90, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Claremont Nursing & Rehab. Center. He was
born on December 7, 1927 in Carlisle and was a son of the late Jacob Ellsworth Wickard and Marie (Deitch) Wickard. He
was married to the late Gladys M. Wickard, who passed away on Sept. 29, 1995.
Mr. Wickard was a lifetime farmer in Lower Frankford Twp. He was a member of North
Middleton Church of God, Carlisle. Mr. Wickard also operated the J. E. Wickard & Sons Seed Cleaning business and
was a former Lower Frankford Twp. Supervisor. He was a lifetime antique dealer, and enjoyed sales, flea markets and
auctions. He also operated a small Christmas tree farm, and wreath-making business from his farm for most of his life, along
with his sons.
He is survived
by three sons; Ed (wife, Wendy) Wickard, Dennis A. Wickard and Glenn “Steve” (wife, Shirley) Wickard, all of Carlisle,
one daughter, Donna (husband, Don) Winfindale of Carlisle, two brothers; Robert M. Wickard of Carlisle and Paul D. Wickard
of Briggsdale, CO, one sister, Dorothy E. Quigley Handshew of Newville. He also had 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Snader and one granddaughter, Jennifer
Shirley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday,
August 31, 2018 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Randy Zook. Burial will
be in North Middleton Church of God Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Middleton Church of God Cemetery Fund, c/o Kenneth
