Elizabeth Phyllis “Liz”
Adams, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home at The Bridges at Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg.
She was born on February 7, 1931 in Carlisle and was a daughter of
the late Kenneth M. and Hazel B. (Fickel) Adams.
Liz
graduated from Carlisle High School with the Class of 1949. She
worked in state government in the Department of Education and as Personnel Director in the State Treasury Department before
serving as Personnel Director for Dauphin Distribution and retiring from Excel Logistics, Mechanicsburg. She was a former
member of both the American Business Women’s Association and the Cumberland County Historical Society. Liz was a member
of Grace United Methodist Church in Carlisle and later Wesley United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she was active
in the United Methodist Women’s Group and was a Sunday School teacher.
She
is survived by her sister, Barbara A. Brehm of Carlisle, nephew,
James K. (wife Jane) Adams II, of Mechanicsburg, and three nieces; Kathy (husband Ken) Purcell of Boiling Springs, Wendy (husband
Rulon) Wetherill of Trappe and Lisa (husband Sam) Yinger of Newville and several great nieces and nephews. Liz was predeceased
by her brother, James K. Adams.
Services are being planned for a later date this summer.
