Robert W. Kough, Sr., 90, of Newville, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his home.
He was born on March 26, 1928 in Carlisle and was the son of the late W. Earl Kough and Anna (Adams) Kough.
Bob was married to the late Helen M. (Snoke) Kough who passed away on March 14, 2011. Bob was a 1948 graduate of Carlisle
High School. He was a carpenter most of his life and had worked 15 years with the former Federal Equipment
Co. in Carlisle. Bob then worked for the former Rea & Derrick Drug Store as a remodeler of stores which
eventually became C.V.S. and with whom Bob retired. He is a member of Centerville Lutheran Church.
He was a life member and former Trustee with the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Co, a member and former Captain with
the Penn Twp. Fire Police, a life member and former President of the Big Spring Band Boosters, a former Cub Master for Pack185-Centerville
and a former committee member of Boy Scout Troup 185. He is survived by one son, Robert W. Kough, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn
of Newville, two daughters; Deborah C. Zeigler and her husband, Stephen and Sally J. Anderson and her husband, Gary both of
Newville, two sisters; Jane Turner and Martha Stitt, both of Carlisle, three grandchildren; Stephen Kough, Joseph Miller and
Matthew Miller, three step-grandchildren; Greg, Van and Robert Thorson, many great and great-great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one step-grandson, Richard Thorson and one daughter-in-law,
Julie Kough. Funeral
services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle
with Rev. Barbara Albert officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 12:00
noon until time of service. Memorial tributes in Bob’s name may be made to Centerville Lutheran Church,
