Alice E. Gibney, 102, of Mechanicsburg and a resident of Bethany
Village, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was born on October
9, 1915 in Carlisle and was the daughter of the late J. Berman and Annie (Ilgenfritz) Hosler and the widow of James M. Gibney,
who passed away on May 4, 1995.
Alice was
a devoted homemaker. She retired from the former G. C. Murphy Co. at the former Carlisle Plaza.
She was a lifelong member of the Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Alice was
formerly active with Farm Women Group #4, Golden Age Club in Boiling Springs and the AARP in Mechanicsburg.
She
is survived by one son, Randy K. (wife, Elizabeth “Betsy”) Gibney of Mechanicsburg and two granddaughters; Stephanie
(husband, Bryan) Phillips of Lititz and Sandra Gibney of Philadelphia. She was predeceased by one brother,
John B. Hosler.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Westminster Memorial Gardens,
1159 Newville Rd., Carlisle with Rev. Timothy Baer officiating. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle,
