
Isabel I. Franklin, 87, of Carlisle, passed
away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was born on March 21, 1930 in Dillsburg
and was a daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Noaker) Monismith. Isabel was a 1948 graduate of Carlisle High School. She
was a loving homemaker and retired after 25 years of service as a cashier with Giant Food Stores in Carlisle.
She was a member of Carlisle First Church of God, where she was a member of the Women Bible Class and served on the
hospitality committee. Isabel enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as baking, taking care of her home
and being with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert E. Franklin,
two sons; Stephen D. Franklin of Tucson, AZ and David K. (Eileen) Franklin of Lansdale, two daughters; Carol D. (Cable Kinnard)
Franklin of Landisburg and Cindy L. (Rick) Thomas of Carlisle, one brother, Lee (Rosemary) Monismith of Fountain Valley, CA,
one sister, Iva Piorkowski of Reading, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey P. Franklin who passed away in 2006, one grandson, Ryan Corkle who passed away in
2008, two brothers; Charles and Lester Monismith and five sisters; Virginia Lenkowski, Ruth Logan, June Weller, Evelyn Hipple
and Mabel Monismith. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m.
on Friday, March 9, 2018 followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St.,
Carlisle, with Rev. Michael Poe officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the funeral service at the
church. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to
the church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
