George Walter Waugaman, Jr., 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at home.  He was born on June 15, 1929 in Carlisle and was a son of the late Cora (Fanus) Waugaman and George W. Waugaman, Sr.

He is survived by two daughters; Deborah (husband, Guy) Day of York and Sheri-Ann (husband, James) Morrison of Carlisle, five grandchildren; Jennifer Kress, Tavia Garland, Davin Waugaman, Jennifer McKenna and Jason Day, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Horn of Beavercreek, OH, one sister-in-law, Sonja Waugaman of Kansas City and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Goodhart and one brother, Larry Waugaman.

George graduated in 1947 from Carlisle High School, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1950.  George retired as a lead dispatcher with Roadway Express after thirty years of service.  After retirement, he worked part time with the former C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle. George was baptized and grew up attending the former Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle.  He was a member of Carlisle Eagles Aerie 1299, an Atlanta Braves fan, avid golfer and spent many days fishing at the Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs.

A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Carlisle United Methodist Church (formerly Grace), 45 S. West St, Carlisle, with Rev. James VanZandt officiating.  Cumberland County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the church.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Carlisle United Methodist Church or to Celtic Hospice, 900 century Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.   Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is assisting the family with the arrangements.  www.Since1853.com.
