Jason Wesley Smith II, 27, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at home.  He was born on May 27, 1990 in Carlisle and is a son of Jason W. and Angela (Hirsch) Smith of Carlisle.

Jason graduated from Carlisle High School with the Class of 2009 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.  His family belongs to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Jason was a talented "tech whisperer."  Jason's favorite things in this world were making music, being outdoors, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Jason expressed his passion for music by playing bass in dozens of bands, going to concerts, and jamming with loved ones.  Jason wholeheartedly cared about everyone- whether stranger or family- and never left a person unloved.

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by six siblings; Nathan, Rachael, Jessica, Mary, Michael, and John Smith, all of Carlisle, paternal grandmother, D. Morgan (husband, James) Pickands of Doylestown, maternal grandmother, Nancy Hirsch of Yellow Springs, OH, paternal great-grandmother, Louise Morgan of Doylestown and many extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with The Very Rev. William C. Forrey officiating followed by a time of fellowship in the church activity center.  Burial will be private.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Tool Library at carlisletoollibrary.org.  www.Since1853.com

The Kane Family is so sorry for your loss. The loss of a child is never easy and certainly can never be explained.  I remember Jason from his youngest days in scouts and sports and I am always amazed how time passes and kids grow so quickly.  You know you see less of them, but you never expect one to be gone so suddenly and unexpectedly. While we had not seen Jason in a while, he will always have a place in our memory, now more than ever.
The Kane Family
Angie:  I can't imagine what you're going through but please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.  I love you very much and am here anytime you need me for anything

I am so very sorry for your loss of Jason.  He was such a fine young man.  He had a magnetic personality and took a great joy in life.  He was kind and friendly to everyone and shared his many talents everywhere he went.  I know you will miss him as everyone who knew him will, too.  I'm thinking of you and wishing you strength and peace.  Sincerely,

I was crushed to receive a phone call today about Jason's passing.  I loved Jason and mourn for his death and his lovely family.  I know he is seeing the face of Jesus and is at peace.  I know this with my whole heart.  He was always filled with joy and always so kind.  Please know we are praying in a special way.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies as you go through this very difficult time. I was a student at St. Patrick's and met Jason through several church events. He was always so warm, kind, and open to meeting new people. God has him in his arms now to share that kindness with others. God bless.
Veronica Miller
Our hearts go out to you.  Jason was the best man at our wedding in 2016.  At the University of the Sciences, Jason was a pleasure to mentor: Bright and very loving.  We miss him.  Wish we could send a couple of photos of Jason at our wedding.

John Muccitelli and Teresa Slifer
I remember you when you were young, always happy and enterprising, busy with your next project. I remember you next with Nathan and Rachel, happy, smiling. I remember how kind you always were to my son- you older than he. I remember seeing you and Nathan often walking in Carlisle, exploring the world, never idle, always happy. I am sorry Jason that you were suffering. I am sorry that addiction gripped you. But, your life, even in 27 years was full. You made your mark on this world. I remember you with your younger sibs and how much you seemed to love them. You clearly were a special boy Jason. I can see your beauty, spirit, and live through your beautiful family- I will hold them all, and you, close in my prayers and warm thoughts. God bless you all.
