Virgil Lang Evans, 90, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home.  He was born on February 12, 1927 in Kennett Square, Chester County, and was a son of the late Isaac R. and Kathryn (Lang) Evans.

Virgil graduated in 1945 from the Westtown School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Temple University.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII.  Virgil retired after 25 years as a 7th thru 12th grade Art teacher with Susquenita High School in Duncannon.  He was a member of the Upper Dublin Friends Meeting in Ambler and enjoyed sculpting, ceramics and painting, as well as performing and volunteering with the high school and community theaters.

He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Carolyn M. (Clark) Evans, two sons; Morgan (wife, Mary Ann) Evans of Newville and Mark (wife, Mercene) Evans of Newport, two daughters; Stephany Evans of New York City and Elizabeth Evans of Norristown, one brother, Wilbur Evans of Ocean City, NJ, four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Isaac R. Evans, Jr.

Services and burial will be held at a later date in the Upper Dublin Friends Meeting in Ambler.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.  Visit www.Since1853.com to send condolences.

My deepest sympathies to the family.  I enjoyed talking with him when I cleaned for them. I hope he enjoyed seeing Hamilton. He was truly excited about going. I will miss you Virgil. Rest in peace.
