Ray A. Garman, 81, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He was born on December 5, 1936 in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Lydia Ann (Duncan) Garman.

Ray was a self-employed carpenter and operated Ray Garman Home Improvements in Carlisle for many years. He was a member of Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church. Ray enjoyed hunting, hiking, gardening, reading, camping, snowmobiling but most of all building things with his hands.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Yvonne I. (Myers) Garman, three sons; Ricky (Rick) Garman of McAlisterville, Richard (Rich) Garman and Kenneth (Ken) (wife, Shirley) Garman, both of Carlisle, two daughters; Debra (Debbie) Garman of Boiling Springs and Sandra (Sandy) (husband, Michael) Brocious of Downingtown, three step-sons; Craig (wife, Naomi) Monismith of Carlisle, Dustyn (wife, Brenda) Monismith of Mukwonago, WI and Bradyn (wife, Meredith) Monismith of Wayhaw, NC, one step-daughter, Christyn (husband, Jason) Campbell of Mechanicsburg, his first wife, Doris May (Kauffman) Garman of Carlisle, four grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John S. Garman and his sister, Jeanette Thumma.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler St, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065, with Pastor Ed B. Alwine officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
