Gladys F. Hefelfinger, 81, of The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville and formerly of Gettysburg, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Gettysburg Hospital.  She was born on January 6, 1936 in Oakville, Cumberland County, and was daughter of the late Ervin H. and Mary (Reinhardt) Foltz and was the widow of William H. Hefelfinger, who passed away on Oct. 3, 2002.

Gladys was a graduate of Big Spring High School with the class of 1954.  She is survived by one daughter, Tracey L. Hefelfinger of Orrtanna, step-daughter, Diane Porter of Tolan, two brothers; John Foltz of Carlisle and Wilbur Foltz of Shippensburg, one sister, Grace Chamberlain of Shippensburg and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one step-son, Richard Hefelfinger of Harrisburg, two brothers; Walter and Mark Foltz and two sisters; Betty Russell and Vesta Foltz.

While living at Laurel Run, Gladys developed many close bonds with staff and especially with her manager of care, Mandy Rutman.  Mandy’s dedication to Gladys’ care was unsurpassed.  She provided Gladys with many moments of joy and laughter that greatly enriched her everyday life.  Mandy and many of the staff earned a special place in Gladys’ heart.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Churchtown, with Pastor Dave Miller officiating.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions may be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325.  www.Since1853.com.

_______________

We loved Aunt Gladys dearly.  Stan and I will always remember her love of the beach, carrying her heavy lounge chair with her cooler of tea to spend the entire day in the sun.  She will be missed.  She always made us laugh. We loved her.
