
Ethel Louise Gumby, 90 of Mt. Holly Springs, passed to eternal life on
Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at home with loving family by her side. She was born on Wednesday, December
15, 1926 in Mt. Holly Springs, and was a daughter of the late Harry N. Gumby and the late Harriett A. (Parker) Gumby.
Ethel
was a 1946 graduate of Carlisle High School. She retired from the former McCoy Electronics, Mt. Holly Springs
and had also worked for the former Hunt’s Inc., Carlisle. Ethel was a longtime member of Shiloh Missionary
Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, a choir member and President Emeritus of the church missionary. She
was also a member of the Jeptha Chapter No. 18 Order of Eastern Star. Ethel received recognition and was
honored for 50 consecutive years of voting.
She is survived by
one daughter, Tracy G. Cornelius of Columbia, MD, one grandson, Quentin Cornelius, one brother, William Gumby of Rochester,
NY, two sisters; Edna Gumby and Harriett Gumby, both of Mt. Holly Springs and many nieces and nephews. Ethel
was preceded in death by five brothers; George, Raymond, John, Harry and her twin, Edgar Gumby and two sisters; Mary and Lucinda
Gumby. A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November
8, 2017 followed by funeral services at 12:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with
Pastor Daniel B. Keys officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. Memorial
