Lester R. Conrad, 81, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at home with loving family by his side.  He was born on October 31, 1935 in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Albert B. and Anna E. (Kohler) Conrad Dunlap.

Lester retired as an inspector after 45 years of service with the former Wilcox Forging Corp. in Mechanicsburg.  He was a member of the Carlisle Family Moose Lodge.  Lester loved to go to auctions, antiquing and completing do it yourself projects around his home.

He is survived by one son, Steven C. (wife, Kelly) Conrad of Dacula, GA, four daughters; Fay L. Geesaman of Mechanicsburg, Sharon K. (husband, Jerry) Ilgenfritz of Salisbury, NC, Vickie D. (husband, James) Holder of Newville and Sandra L. Conrad of Mechanicsburg, his former wife and close friend, Betty J. (Gochenauer) Conrad of Carlisle, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three brothers; James, Grant and Mervin Conrad and one grandson, Courtney Geesaman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle.  Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.   www.Since1853.com

Sharon, Fay, Vickie, Sandy, Betty and all extended family. This man was someone who would always extend a smile and a nice word about everyone. I can only imagine your pain at losing him. He is at rest now and free from pain. My thoughts go out to all of you.
