
Genevie R. “Jenny” Derrick Hurley, 71,
of Carlisle, died on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on February
17, 1946 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Luther O. and Clara E. (Sipe) Derrick. She was the
widow of Marlin L. Hurley who died on April 19, 2015.
Jenny graduated from Boiling Springs High School
with the class of 1964. She retired after 13 years of service with the former Sprint Telephone Co.
Jenny was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship, Carlisle where she was a former Sunday School and Bible School
Teacher. She also regularly attended with her son the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God. She is survived by
two sons; Kevin L. (Shannon) Hurley of Gardners and Chad B. (Wendy) Hurley of Palmyra, four granddaughters; Lindsay N. Anthony,
Colleen D. Hurley, Brooklyn N. Hurley and Briana M. Hurley, one great-granddaughter, Aubree S. Weary, one great-grandson,
Damian J. Russell, one great-nephew, Harlan Sproul, one great-great-nephew, Cayden Sproul, one step-granddaughter, Madison
M. Heebner and one step-grandson, Chancellor R. Reisinger. Jenny was predeceased by two sisters; Arlene
M. Treaster and Christine A. Derrick and one niece, Zandra L. Treaster Sproul. Funeral services
will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Christian Fellowship, 360 York Rd., Carlisle, Pa 17013,
with Pastor Alan Myers officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions
may be made to her church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
