Donn A. “Joe” Keck, 56, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.  He was born on November 9, 1960 in Carlisle, and is a son of Donald Keck of Newville and the late Barbara A. “Sis” (Seiders) Keck.

Joe was a 1978 graduate of Big Spring High School in Newville.  He most recently worked for Shippensburg University and was formerly employed with Dickinson College and for many years with the former Kinney Shoe Corp. both of Carlisle.  Joe was a member of the Incarnation United Church of Christ in Newport.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle and most of all his family.  Joe will be deeply missed by his many friends.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Janice Ann (Brutko) Keck, two sons; Matthew T. (wife, Alanna) Keck and Daniel J. Keck, two daughters; Jessica L. Keck and Lauren R. Keck, all of Carlisle, two brothers; Joel M. (wife, Cathy) Keck of Shippensburg and Chad J. Keck of Carlisle, two sisters; Paige L. Donovan and Kathy A. (husband, Don) Myers, both of Newville, two granddaughters; Mackenzie Adams and Makayla Vogt, one grandson, Brantley Kuhn and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by one brother-in-law, David Donovan and one nephew, Jamie Keck.

A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jan Custer officiating.  Burial will be in Hays Grove Cemetery in Hays Grove.  Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to his church, 47 N. 4th St, Newport, PA 17074.  www.Since1853.com

Joe was always kind to me. I enjoyed chatting with him back stage at the Luhrs Center.
If we ask God why terrible things happen in this life, He would probably answer that suffering allows us the opportunity to show love and kindness to our neighbors.

I know he'll be missed

To Jan and family,
May your memories live forever and your hurt lessen as the days and years go by.  The one thing that sticks out the most is when I sat with Joe at Ronnie's funeral.  He held my hand as I wept during the services.  What a great man!!
