Betty
Mae Burns, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD.
She was born on March 4, 1930 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late William D. and Lillie C. (Coleman) Spraglin.
Betty was the widow of Benther Burns who passed in 2007 and Gilmond William Oberton, Sr. who passed in 2005. Betty graduated from the former Wilson High School
in Carlisle. She had worked as a clerk in the Dauphin County Prothonotary Office. Betty
was also a former licensed beautician. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle.
She is survived by three daughters; Deborah Ann (husband,
Jessie) Webb of Carlisle, Linda Mae (husband, Robert) Anderson of Salisbury, MD and Vanessa (husband, Warren) Mayo, Harrisburg,
PA; Elaine Baskerville of Fayetteville, NC and Christine Talley of Baltimore, MD, 9 grandchildren, Reginald L. Oberton, SR.,
Nathaniel E. Barnes, Maurese T. Cole, Adrian L. Barnes, Sophia L. Oberton, Benther Michael, Kinisha Barnes, Renee Barnes,
Bethany Michael, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty was predeceased by
one daughter, Carol Louise Barnes Hampton, three brothers; William D. Spraglin, Jr., Richard Spraglin and Charles Spraglin
and one sister, Barbara Scott.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers
Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions

Miss Betty was such a lady! And she was always so kind to me. I will always remember my dad saying when
he saw her, "Hey Sharpy!" because she was always so sharp! Rest in peace Miss Betty. My love and heartfelt condolences
