Mary Elizabeth Bear Moyer, 92, of Carlisle, died July 4, 2017.   Born May 23,1925 in Dickinson Township, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Helen (Roush) Bear.  Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Lawrence R. Moyer (LTC-Ret.), who died June 4, 1986, and her brother, Ray A. Bear.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert W.  Bear and C. Glenn (Susan) Bear of Carlisle;  two sons—Ronald L. (Donna) of Carlisle, Donald L. (Kay) of Clearwater, FL, and a daughter, Bonita Westfall (Jess) of West Des Moines, IA; 4 grandchildren—Michele L. Moyer of Williamsburg, VA, LaRae L. Moyer of Lawndale, NC, M. Scott Wamsley of Hawaii, Stephanie M. Middleton (Rusty) of Sammamish, WA; 4 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.

Mary graduated from Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1942.  As an Army wife, Mary made a home for her family in various places throughout the United States, Europe and Bolivia, before retiring with “Larry” in Tampa, FL, where she worked in the ER at St Joseph’s Hospital, loved by patients and colleagues alike.  During her life, she volunteered with the American Red Cross, working with U.S, soldiers and later with senior citizens at Forest Park Nursing Home.  She was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, VA, at the convenience of the family.  It was her wish that those wanting to remember her do so by helping those in need.  She requested no visitation or flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. W. Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.  Arrangements are being handled by Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle.
