Vada M. Shughart, 84, of Shippensburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.  She was born on September 6, 1932 in Newville, and was a daughter of the late Bruce and Martha (Armolt) Chestnut.  She was the widow of Lester E. Shughart, who passed away on Dec. 10, 2001.

Vada and her late husband had owned and operated a dairy farm for many years in Penn Twp.  She was a member of the Newville Assembly of God.  Vada loved gardening, making crafts and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one son, Alan E. (wife, Suzanne) Shughart of Newville, one daughter, Brenda M. (husband, Harry) Enyeart of Shippensburg, four brothers; Robert Chestnut of Newville, Donald Chestnut of Carlisle, Barry Chestnut and Larry Chestnut, both of Newville, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including, Rose A. Turnbaugh of Carlisle and whom Vada raised as a daughter.  She was predeceased by two sons; Craig and Todd Shughart and one brother, Harold Chestnut.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the Newville Assembly of God, 403 Oak Flat Rd., Newville, PA 17241, with Rev. Jeffrey Kettering officiating.  Burial will be in Waggoner’s United Methodist Church, Carlisle.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Vada's name to her church.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling the arrangements.  www.Since1853.com.
