Mary K. Johnson, 99, of Carlisle, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Claremont Nursing Home, Carlisle.  She was born on May 2, 1917 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn (Boswell) Drew.

Mary attended Carlisle High School and had worked at the former Piezo Crystal Co., P. R. Hoffman Co. and was a teacher’s aide for many years at the former Stevens Elementary School, all of Carlisle.  She was a member and former organist at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle.  Mary also played the organ for a former local radio show and taught piano lessons. 

She is survived by two sons; Mervyn R. Johnson, Jr. and Maurice L. (wife, Geraldine) Johnson, both of Carlisle, four daughters; Mona L. (husband, Thomas Jr.) Harris of Killeen, TX, Marcella K. Witten, Marsha L. (husband, William H.) Owens and Mariann (husband, Charles) Petty, all of Carlisle, 21 grandchildren and many great, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her former husband, Mervyn R. Johnson, Sr., two brothers; Clarence and Lester Drew and one sister, Romaine Pegues.

A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 409 N. West St., Carlisle, with Rev. Daniel B. Keys officiating.  Burial will in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to her church.   www.Since1853.com.
